England have created history in Manchester! The Three Lions have become the second full member nation to scale the 300-run mountain in T20I cricket. England launched a full-on attack on South Africa at Old Trafford with Phil Salt and Jos Buttler leading the charge.
Salt remained unbeaten on 141 from 60 balls, while Buttler smashed 83 from 30. Jacob Bethell and Harry Brook played invaluable cameos, which were enough for England to get past 300 on the third-last ball of the match. “A score of 300? I never thought I’d see that; it was unbelievable,” Buttler said right after the first innings ended.

All five highest totals have been set in the last 2 years. In fact, four of them had been achieved in the past 12 months. It was India who held the highest innings total in T20Is among full member nations. Zimbabwe beat them to the punch the very next month and now England have done so as well.
