India squad for Asia Cup 2025 was named on Tuesday, and there are a few notable misses in the 15-member team. And with no fault of the selectors or the management — a few deserving players were supposed to miss out anyway. Now, it is time to look at the actual playing XI that India could field, and also the alternate XI that would be formed from the players who weren’t selected.
Predicted India Playing XI for Asia Cup 2025
Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill (VC), Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav (C), Jitesh Sharma (WK), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakaravarthy.
Yashasvi Jaiswal & Sai Sudharsan to Open
Without any doubt, Jaiswal is the first pick in this alternate India XI. He has a stellar record in the T20Is, and averages 36, while in IPL 2025, he scored 559 runs in 15 matches. The other one has to be Sai Su, who was the orange cap holder. He scored 759 runs at an average of 54.
Shreyas Iyer the Skipper
Not only did he score heavily, but he took PBKS to the playoffs after a decade. In the previous year, he took KKR to the trophy. He should have been in the main squad, and is the captain of this alternate XI as well in Asia Cup.
All-rounders Easy Picks
Krunal and Riyan seem to make the team fairly easily. In 15 matches, the southpaw scored an innings of 73 from RCB, and then also picked 17 wickets in them. On the other hand, Riyan scored 393 runs and got three wickets as well.
Prasidh Krishna & Mohammed Siraj Main Pacers
Prasidh was the purple cap holder, so he made the team without much thought. Siraj picked 16 wickets in 15 matches and becomes the leader of the pack; he would have Harshal Patel as the death bowler.
India’s Missing XI
Prasidh Krishna, Digvesh Rathi, Krunal Pandya, Sai Sudharsan, Shreyas Iyer (C), Mohammed Siraj, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Sai Kishore, Harshal Patel, Riyan Parag.
