Yashasvi Jaiswal and Akash Deep resumed the innings for India on Day 3 and went on to stitch a 107-run partnership that frustrated England. While India lost skipper Shubman Gill and Karun Nair cheaply, Jaiswal went on to score his 6th Test century, this time off 127 deliveries.

Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar slammed half-centuries, playing handy knocks to help India reach a mammoth 396-run 2nd innings total. Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley started off the 374 run-chase on a positive note but it was India who had the last laugh. Crawley was cleaned up by a brilliant delivery from Mohammed Siraj on the last ball of the day, leaving England with just 8 wickets at hand to achieve the record run-chase.
