The England captain struggled with a groin injury on Day 1 of the IND vs ENG 3rd Test at Lord’s, triggering speculations about his availability for the rest of the game. However, Stokes looks like he’s fine and will resume the innings along with Joe Root on Day 2.
Stoke overcomes injury scare
As per Sky Sports, Stokes was seeing warming up ahead of Day 2 of the IND vs ENG 3rd Test at Lord’s. The England captain was seen bowling on Friday morning, casting aside any doubts over his fitness after the groin injury he sustained on Day 1. Stokes, who is unbeaten on 39, will resume the innings for England on day 2 at 251/4. The BBC reported that Stokes was cleared to return to action on Day 2.
Stokes was seen hobbling between the wicket towards end of play on Day 2, experiencing discomfort in his groin. He was even attended to by the support staff on the field for medical treatment. England weren’t too optimistic about Stokes returning to play, with vice-captain Ollie pope stating that it would take magic for the skipper to be okay on Day 3.

Stokes just returned from a long layoff due to an injury recently. On the other hand, England are looking to bounce back in lord’s after they were embarrassed at Edgbaston with a 336-run defeat. It will be crucial for Stokes to be fit as he serves as one of the seniormost pacers in the England XI in this game.
