Pace sensation Mayank Yadav, who is finally back after a long injury layoff, would have to wait a bit longer, as far as his inclusion in the playing XI is concerned. In the ongoing Rajasthan Royals vs Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) match, Mayank was included as an impact sub, in case the team needed an extra pacer. But then after opting to bat first, Rishabh Pant’s team displayed poor performance and were reduced to 54/3 in 7.4 overs..
And that meant, there was no space for Mayank Yadav in the team, even as impact sub. Instead, to stead the batting ship, batter Ayush Badoni as preferred.
Mayank Yadav boost for LSG
Mayank, retained for Rs 11 crore despite playing only four games last season, was cleared by the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) following recovery from a recurring back issue and a toe injury. He joined the LSG camp earlier this week and had passed fitness assessments under the supervision of team physio Ashish Kaushik.
The express pacer lit up IPL 2024 with raw pace, clocking 157 km/h and picking seven wickets in four matches. His return adds a much-needed X-factor to LSG’s bowling unit, which has been hit by injuries to Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan, and Akash Deep. For the RR clash, LSG have dropped Akash Deep in favour of Prince Yadav, who also impressed early on.
