Rohit Sharma’s captaincy has come under the scanner for quite some time. The latest comes after his poor performances in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy. Reports hint that Rohit Sharma has dropped himself from the IND vs AUS Sydney Test and Jasprit Bumrah will be leading the side. As things take a sharp turn, we take a close look at Rohit Sharma and Sourav Ganguly’s batting records as the captain of the India Cricket Team.
Both Rohit and Sourav Ganguly have been aggressive captains leading his team from the front. While Rohit has been a trademark opener in recent years, Ganguly has shuffled his batting position from the top to the middle order depending on the demand of the team. Still, it is the former captain who tops the charts when compared to the Hitman.
Rohit Sharma might have better win percentage stats as captain, but in terms of pure batting Ganguly is miles ahead of the current Indian captain. When compared, Sourav Ganguly has obviously played more matches than Rohit. But in Tests, Rohit has a much lower average compared to Ganguly.
