India women’s cricket team is set to undergo a 10-day camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) situated in Bengaluru. This camp, starting on Tuesday (September 10), is a crucial part of their preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the UAE. Head coach of the team, Amol Muzumdar will lead the camp. A full-strength squad, including reserves, will assemble in Bengaluru on Monday.
Yastika Bhatia and Shreyanka set to join the camp
Wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia and all-rounder Shreyanka Patil, who were conditionally named in the 15-member World Cup squad, have cleared their fitness tests and will join the camp at NCA. Bhatia had suffered a knee injury during the Bangladesh series in March, while Patil fractured her finger in India’s Asia Cup opener against Pakistan in July. Both have now received the required fitness clearances from the NCA.
Intra-squad games under lights
As part of their World Cup preparations, the team will play a couple of intra-squad games, both of which are expected to take place under lights. This is in line with their upcoming World Cup schedule, where they will play three of their four Group A matches under lights. The only exception is their game against Pakistan on October 7 in Dubai.
