Pakistan vs Ireland: Babar Azam & Shaheen Afridi have saved Pakistan the blushes with a 3-wicket win over Ireland in Florida to end T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. In a paltry 107-run chase, Pakistan batting collapsed again from 39/1 to 62/6 in 11 overs. But Babar Azam and Abbas Afridi held the fort to keep Pakistan afloat. Shaheen then finished things off with two sixes.
Earlier, Ireland posted 106/9 in the last group game. Shaheen Afridi and Imad Wasim were on fire with three wickets each. Mohd Amir and Afridi rattled Ireland early on reducing 28/5 in the powerplay. While there was a little resistance from Gareth Delany with 19-ball 31, Ireland could only manage 106 after Babar Azam won the toss and opted to field.
