WWE Smackdown – Smackdown Results and Highlights: Check out the big highlights and what happened on WWE Friday Night Smackdown Episode on 15th January: WWE Friday Night SmackDown edition of January 15, 2022, continued to build up towards the Royal Rumble 2022 PPV event. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins’ confrontation: Roman Reigns started off by asking the Omaha crowd to Acknowledge him. Seth Rollins started off by giving Roman Reigns a reality check. Roman was blabbering about himself (like he always does) and talking about how great he is by saying that he is in a god mode. 

Rollins gave him a reality check by saying back in The Shield days, he always held his hand to elevate him to the top, and after all these years, he has his cousins The Usos to carry him now. He said that Roman should look into the mirror and ask himself if he has really done all this on his own?

Seth was talking facts as he said that he created Roman and he can destroy him too. This reality check pissed the tribal Chief. He called Seth a Clown and said he doesn’t need to fight him. He added, if he had a big star to choose from Raw to fight him at Royal Rumble, it was never going to be Seth Rollins but his wife, the Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch.

Seth had his face down. Seth fired the shot Roman fired the shot back. The Usos tried to get the jump by attacking Seth from behind but it didn’t work the drip guy was speaking facts heading into Royal Rumble with a message being sent loud and clear to the so-called Tribal Chief.

 

 

Kofi Kingston vs. Madcap Moss: Kofi Kingston announced before the start of the match that because of an injury, King Woods will not be at the Royal Rumble match, but he will be entering the 30-man Royal Rumble match to make it a Royal event.

Madcap Moss and Happy Corbin soon came out and started cracking their rubbish jokes before the match officially started. The bell rang and Sir Kofi hit a kick right into the gut of Madcap Moss. He then sent him outside the ring and jumped off the top rope on both Corbin and Moss. Time for commercials.

After the commercial, both men were seen in the ring, and soon we saw Sir Kofi getting the better of Moss. Kofi was wearing down Moss with his moves and wasn’t letting Moss dominate him. Kofi was prepping up for a Trouble in Paradise, but Happy Corbin distracted him from the apron, which helped Madcap Moss evade the move. Kofi then tried nailing an SOS, but Moss poked in Kofi’s eye and placed his finisher to secure a win over the former WWE Champion.

Backstage: Naomi was about to get her hands on Sonya Deville in the latter’s office, but Adam Pearce came to intervene and gave Naomi a match against Charlotte Flair next week.

 

 

Ricochet vs. Sheamus- The Celtic Warrior Sheamus and ricochet started off the fight with Sheamus wearing down Ricochet with his brute power. Ricochet, however, got his tactics right when he sent Sheamus outside over the top rope and kicked on his face from the apron. He took a flight then above the top rope and landed perfectly on Sheamus.

Ricochet then sent Sheamus inside the ring, but the latter opted to roll out from the other side, Ricochet tried following him but got caught on the apron when Sheamus ruffled him with a takedown. Sheamus then slammed him chest-first on the steel bars under the ring. We now head into commercials.

After the commercial, the two men were seen in the ring with Sheamus having an upper hand. However, Ricochet returned with his outstanding offense and set Sheamus for a moonsault from the top turnbuckle, but Sheamus moved out of harm’s way and nailed an Irish curse backbreaker. He then hit the 10 shots to the chest before going on the top rope.

Ricochet however caught him on the top turnbuckle with a kick on the face and then slammed his face on the ring post. He then hit a sunset powerbomb on Sheamus and went to cover him, but the latter kicked out on 2 counts. Ricochet got up and was trying to nail an athletic move but Sheamus caught him in mid-air with a Brogue Kick to get a pinfall win.

Lita returns: Lita gets a warm reception from the WWE Universe as everyone present in the arena was chanting her name. Michael Cole asked how she feels to be back in WWE, Lita said she feels good and excited to be back ‘home.’

 

Cole then asked her why she has entered the women’s Royal Rumble match? Lita said that she has done everything in her WWE career but never officially competed in a Royal Rumble match because there wasn’t any at her time. She then added that she still has one more run left in her and she will make sure that she makes the most of this run.

Her promo was interrupted by the Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. The two ladies then exchanged words and Charlotte reminded her how she humiliated and beat her bestie Trish Stratus at Summerslam 2019 and how she would do the same with her (Lita) at Royal Rumble PPV.

Lita then said how can Charlotte throw her over the top rope at the Rumble with a big head as she has. The two women exchanged a few more words before Lita hit a ‘Twist of Fate’ to end the segment.

Aliyah vs. Natalya: Before the bell could have even rung, Natalya started assaulting Aliyah. The outrage was brutal as Natalya was livid by the fact that Aliyah disrespected her backstage before the start of their match as she made fun of her Guinness record.

The referee somehow calmed down Natalya and asked the timekeeper not to start the match, but Aliyah urged the referee that she is fine and the match should continue. The referee agreed and the bell rang. As soon as the bell rang, Aliyah rolled up Natalya for a shocking win. After the match got over, the ring announcer announced that Aliyah has set a new WWE record, i.e., the fastest win which came in just 3.17 seconds.

Sami Zayn calls out Johnny Knoxville: Sami Zayn started talking while his way to the ring where he talked about what conspiracy took place with him last week (Johnny Knoxville embarrassed him). He rolled up footage from last week and then said that he is happy for Knoxville qualifying for the Royal Rumble match because he has also made his name official for the 30-man Royal Rumble match.

Sami Zayn then announced that like Johnny Knoxville has ‘Jackass’ he is going to launch his own show named ‘In-Zayn.’ It will be a stunt show and Sami had a ramp placed near the ring from where he was about to jump off into the ring sitting in a shopping trolley.

He had two men to help him jump off his trolley, but he dropped the plan and entered the ring on his feet. He was talking until Rick Boogs was seen on the apron. When Sami turned his attention on Boogs, Shinsuke Nakamura was waiting for him to turn around and hit him a Kinshasa.

When Sami was down and out, Boogs hoisted him up over his head and threw him outside the ring near the announce table.

Backstage: Naomi and Sonya Deville have another war of words. Sonya tells Naomi that she isn’t a main character on the blue brand but just an extra.

 

 

Fatal 4-way tag-team match: The Viking Raiders vs. Cesaro & Mansoor vs. Los Latharios vs. Jinder Mahal & Shanky- The match up started after the commercial and we saw Mansoor and Angel fighting in the ring. Mansoor soon tagged in his partner Cesaro and he started working on Angel before Erik took the tag from Cesaro and Shanky took a tag from Angel.

Shanky was wearing down Erik and with some simultaneous tags to Jinder Mahal, he was on the money with his offense. Erik realized he was under the pump, so he desperately tagged in his partner Ivar and the latter changed the complexion of the match. His moves were relentless and he was on the money against Shanky.

Ivar and Erick keep exchanging tags and were attacking Shanky simultaneously. At one point we saw Jinder Mahal placing Ivar on the top turnbuckle and with the help of Cesaro, and some assist from Erik nailed a perfect superplex from the top turnbuckle. We go into commercials now.

When we returned from commercials, we saw Humberto and Mansoor fighting in the ring. Mansoor soon tagged in Cesaro and all of a sudden Cesaro was rolling with his offense. He hit a Samoan Drop on Humberto pointing at The Usos who were present on the commentary table commentating for the match.

Cesaro’s momentum was stopped by Ivar who took a tag from Humberto. In the closing moments of the match, all the men were clearing the ring with their moves and sending people out. Finally, Ivar and Erik got some space to hit their combined finisher on Humberto and pinned him to win the match.

The Usos kicked off the show- Jimmy & Jey Uso were in the ring and talked about their last week’s match against The New Day. Jey said despite beating The New Day last week, they respect The New Day. Jey then talked about the fatal 4-way tag-team match-up to determine the next challengers for them.

They then started introducing the four teams in this match, First, it was Angel & Humberto, i.e., Los Latharios, followed by a new team Cesaro & Mansoor, Shanky & Jinder Mahal, and finally the Viking Raiders. All the 4 teams were in the ring with The Usos in the middle. Before leaving the ring, they heat a cheap shot, a superkick on Mansoor and Erik of Viking Raiders, and all of a sudden all the men in the ring strted a brawl.
