WWE Smackdown – Smackdown Results and Highlights: Check out the big highlights and what happened on WWE Friday Night Smackdown Episode on 25th Dec- The All-State Arena in Chicago, Illinois hosted the Christman Special Edition of Friday Night Smackdown. Three matches and a segment were announced for the night and Paul Heyman cleared his stance after what transpired last week when he got fired by Roman Reigns. WWE Smackdown – Smackdown Results and Highlights:

Miracle on 34th Street Fight- The Usos & Madcap Moss vs. The New Day & Drew McIntyre: King Woods and Jey Uso started the proceedings. Woods held Jey in a side headlock and started his offense. After a few strikes, he tagged in Sir Kofi Kingston. Sir Kofi ran into Jey with a basement dropkick and delivered a Springboard on Jey.

Jey then lifted Kofi and took him to his corner tagging in Madcap Moss. Moss attacked Kofi before the two men exchanged blows. Madcap hoisted Kofi but the latter got out of Madcap’s grip and tagged in Drew McIntyre.

Drew McIntyre and Madcap Moss now exchanged blows before Drew delivered a future shock DDT to him. He went for a cover, but The Usos broke it. Both new Day members were in the ring now and they took The Usos outside. The four men started fighting each other on the ramp, meanwhile, in the ring, Happy Corbin came from behind and attacked Drew McIntyre with a Kendo Stick repeatedly. We now go into commercials.

After the commercials, we saw Madcap Moss wearing down Drew McIntyre inside the ring, meanwhile, The Usos and The New Day were fighting at the ringside using all the Christmas Props placed outside the ring. The Usos used Christmas Trees and other stuff to dismantle The New Day.

After a while, we saw Kofi Kingston working on Jey Uso in the ring and King Woods also joined him. After beating them for good and sending them outside, Kofi grabbed the Christman Cookies platter and jumped off the top turnbuckle on the outside. We then saw Drew McIntyre setting himself up for the Claymore on Madcap Moss inside the ring but Happy Corbin distracted Drew.

Corbin was then chased at the ringside by Drew and on the other side, Kofi blocked Corbin’s passage with a Kendo stick in his hands. Corbin was caught in the middle of Drew and Kofi now and then started trash-talking with Drew. Kofi took advantage of this and our a jug of milkshake on Corbin from behind. Moss saw this and came to Corbin’s rescue, but Drew took two jugs of milkshake and pour them on both Corbin & Moss. Drew then rolled Moss inside the ring delivered a Claymore Kick to end the match.

12-man gauntlet match: The Gauntlet match to determine the next challenger for Intercontinental Championship started between Angel and Mansoor. The Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura was already there at the ringside with Rick Boogs.

As the bell rang, Mansoor started his offense and was too quick with his moves. Mansoor was on the money with his offense and went to the top turnbuckle for a high-risk maneuver. However, Angel unsettled him on the top and hit him with a running boot in the corner. After a few offense, Angel hit Mansoor with his finisher and eliminated him.

After Mansoor, it was Erik of The Viking Raiders who made his way to the ring. Just as he was entering the ring, Angel came running him and bashed into Erik to send him outside on the floor. He then went to the corner to nail a reverse moonsault, but Erik caught him in the air and floored him with a back-first suplex on the floor. We now head into commercials.

After the commercial, both men were in the ring and exchanging their offense before Erik hit a big knee on Angel’s face and went for the cover. Angel survived the pinfall and started his offense again. He looked brilliant and found space to hit his finisher again and this time it was Erik who got eliminated.

After Erik, it was the 7 feet Shanky who came into the ring. Angel didn’t waste time and started attacking the big man as he was entering the ring. He launched a dropkick on Shanky, but the big man wasn’t going down with that. Shanky grabbed Angel from his throat and soon hit his finisher to eliminate Angel.

After Angel, it was Ivar of The Viking Raiders. He went straight into Shanky with his offense and didn’t let him take a sigh of relief. After unloading with multiple right-hand strikes on Shanky, Ivar went to the top turnbuckle and splashed on Shanky to eliminate him from the match.

It was now Sheamus who made his way to the ring. Sheamus started off with his offense straight away and was unloading strikes on Ivar. Ivar got some space to hit heavy rights of his own before sending Sheamus outside the ring with a clothesline. Sheamus was stunned and we head into commercials.

After the commercials, Sheamus was seen wearing down Ivar in the middle of the ring and Ivar was desperately trying to get out of Sheamus’ sight and he did it with some back & forth offense. Ivar took Sheamus to the corner and delivered a sit-down. Ivar went for a cover, but Sheamus survived. Ivar was trying to attack Sheamus further but Sheamus caught him with a Brogue Kick to eliminate him.

After Ivar, Drew Gulak made his way to the ring, but was stuck with a vicious Brogue Kick and got eliminated.

Cesaro was the next man to enter the gauntlet match. Sheamus went outside the ring towards Cesaro to start the fight even before Cesaro could have come into the ring. The two men went back & forth with their offense outside the ring before taking the action back into the ring. Cesaro was taped on his gut and Sheamus was targeting the injured area.

Sheamus was all over Cesaro, but the Swiss Superman was trying hard to cope up with his injury and be in the match. He went for his famous swing, but it couldn’t last long as he was feeling the pain in his injured ribs. Cesaro then tried going for his finisher, The Neutralizer, but Ridge Holland, who was at the ringside, distracted him that led Sheamus to hit a Brogue Kick and eliminate Cesaro.

After Cesaro, it was Ricochet who made his way to the ring and went straight after an exhausted Sheamus. Ricochet was quick with his moves and sent Sheamus outside the ring tumbling over the ropes. He then stunned Sheamus and everyone in the arena with a Slingshot Springboard from the top rope to the outside on Sheamus. We now went into commercials.

After the commercials, both men were seen exchanging offense in the ring. The match was getting tense as Sheamus, despite being exhausted was not giving up at all. Both men were going back & forth with their offense but a distraction from Cesaro on the outside as he attacked Ridge Holland, helped Ricochet to hit Sheamus with a dropkick from behind, and roll him up for a pin.

Humberto was the next man to enter the Gauntlet match and he wanted to take advantage of an already exhausted Ricochet who was hit with a Brogue Kick. He went for a reverse moonsault but was caught by Ricochet, as he put his legs up in time which stuck into his face. Ricochet then went for his finisher and pinned Humberto.

Jinder Mahal was the next man in. Jinder landed Ricochet back-first badly on the apron. He then took him inside and tried going for his finisher ‘Khallas’ but Ricochet turned it into a roll-up pin and eliminated Jinder Mahal.

The last man in was Sami Zayn. Ricochet was clearly exhausted after competing in three matches on the trot. Zayn and Ricochet were not willing to give up at any stage and came up with great offense. We saw Ricochet nailing a standing Hurricanerana on Sami who was sitting on the top rope.

Ricochet was on the money too. He delivered a Shooting Star on Sami in the closing moments of the match, but Sami put his knees up on time and Ricochet landed gut-first on Samis knee. Sami then hit Ricochet with an Exploder and finished Ricochet’s unbelievable resilience with a Helluva Kick.

Sami Zayn will now face Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Championship

 

 

Backstage: Xia Li sent a cold message to Natalya and tells her that she doesn’t fear her because she is a ‘Protector’ and she will fight her.

 

 

Smackdown Women’s Championship- Toni Storm vs. Charlotte Flair: The match started with both ladies staring at each other before getting locked in the classic wrestling lock. Charlotte took Toni to the corner and tried to rug her off, but Toni came up with her offense and rocked the champ with a series of right-hand strikes.

Toni got the momentum from there on and a crossbody dive on Charlotte who was coming running in stunned the champ again. Toni went for a cover but Charlotte kick out on 2 counts. Charlotte then rolled outside the ring and buy herself some time.

Charlotte then returned to the ring and got bashed with yet another cross-body dive by Toni. The challenger went for a cover again but Charlotte survived. Now, Charlotte took control as she wrapped both her legs around Toni’s neck and bashed her face-first on the mat multiple times. After infusing some pain with that move of her, Charlotte got a headbutt from Toni, but it doesn’t damage her much as she nailed a big boot on Toni to send her outside the ring. We now go into commercials.

After returning from commercials, we saw Charlotte dominating Toni Storm and trash-talking with her. Storm was disrespected after getting slapped by the champ and taken down with a clothesline. Charlotte continued with slapping and tried going for a vertical suplex, but Storm countered with a vertical suplex of her own.

Just when it looked like Storm was gaining some momentum, Charlotte came up with yet another offense as she bashed Toni face-first on the middle turnbuckle. Storm got a chance to nail a German Suplex and go for a cover again, but Charlotte was not going down with a German suplex. She then went for a roll-up pin with an assist of the middle rope, but the referee saw it and stopped the fall.

Charlotte was on the driver’s seat despite Storm hitting a German suplex after Charlotte nailed Natural Selection. Seconds later, Flair hits Figure 4 but can’t transition to Figure 8, and Storm makes it to the ropes. Storm then rolled outside the ring and Charlotte followed her up.

Charlotte got pushed and bashed into the ring post-face-first. Toni then rolled her back into the ring, and the two ladies were seen rolling each other to sneak a pinfall win. Eventually, Charlotte got the roll-up pin correct and won the match to retain her title.

Backstage: Paul Heyman got interviewed by Kayla Braxton backstage. He was there to clear his stance on what transpired last week. He said that he got embarrassed and humiliated publically last week but he doesn’t regret telling the truth to Roman Reigns publically because it was his role to protect the champion and the championship. Therefore, he needs to be protected from Brock Lesnar and that is what exactly he was doing. He said that he told Roman Reigns the truth and he paid the price for it.

Kayla asked Paul Heyman what’s next for him now? Paul was skeptical. He said that he doesn’t know what is next for him. He may go to NXT and start all over again. But he cleared that Roman Reigns has fired him and he is not with him now. Is Paul Heyman’s career most likely over? What is next for him? Does he really acknowledge that his career is most probably over?
