However, as per the recent reports, WWE reportedly changed plans for the former NXT Champion ahead of Raw. As per Fightful Select, WWE booked Ciampa to compete against former United States Champion Finn Balor in the recent Main Event tapings. But WWE changed their plans and made him compete against the former Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews.
Earlier, WWE booked Ciampa for a heel turn against Finn Balor during the main event. But, reportedly made him compete as a babyface against Apollo Crews. During Ciampa’s NXT tenure, he competed in high-profile matches and even faced Finn Balor multiple times, which could add a big boost on Raw.
Currently, WWE booked the former DIY member in a feud with the returning Mustafa Ali. Moreover, WWE recently changed his name from Tommaso Ciampa to only his surname Ciampa.
Ciampa Attacks Mustafa Ali Once Again
On the recent episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE Universe witnessed a brutal attack from Ciampa on Mustafa Ali. The returning Mustafa Ali competed in a match against The Miz and Theory in a 2-on-1 handicap match. Although with all his strength, Ali couldn’t stop the two men.

After the match ended, Ciampa rolled up in the ring from the commentator’s side and attack Ali. Earlier, the former NXT Champion attacked Ali after his victory over The Miz last week. At present, WWE booked Mustafa Ali and Ciampa in a feud, but a potential match between both superstars is yet to be booked.
Initially, both men encountered each other during the survivor series battle, where Ciampa was a part of Team NXT and Mustafa Ali was a part of Team SmackDown. Although both men had a short time in the ring, they displayed a great show of skills.
