WWE Raw: Isn’t Kevin Owens on his way out of the company?

Dave Meltzer, on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, stated that there was a method of madness around Kevin Owens bursting into the WWE Championship match at WWE Day 1 PPV.

He stated that Owens, who may be out of the company, allows him to take the pin without hurting the ongoing feud between Big E and Seth Rollins. Owens may not be a part of the Royal Rumble, and it makes sense to have him compete in his final WWE PPV before he decides to part ways with the company.

“This allows them to stretch the feud out between Big E and Seth Rollins because Kevin Owens can get pinned and they can keep the feud going. Because on that side, as long as Big E is a babyface champion it’s gonna be tough to put Edge in there — I mean, who is there other than Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens, and Kevin Owens we don’t know how long Kevin Owens is gonna be there. His contract is coming up at the end of January after the Royal Rumble, and then he’ll have a decision to make,” said Meltzer.

WWE Raw: How Kevin Owens made it to the WWE Championship match

This past week on Monday Night Raw, Kevin Owens battled the WWE Champion Big E in a non-title bout. The match had a stipulation that stated if Owens wins, he will make it to WWE Day 1 PPV and compete in the WWE Championship match between Big E & Seth Rollins making it a triple-threat.

Owens outsmarted Seth Rollins, who was present at the commentary desk to commentate for the match. He provoked Rollins to attack him during the bout so that he could pick up a DQ victory and make his way to WWE Day 1. Things went as planned as Seth attacked Owens during the match, and the latter picked up a DQ victory over the WWE Champion.
