Recently, Rey Mysterio joined The National where he hyped up his upcoming match with Gunther for the Intercontinental Title and recalled his 2015 exit from the company after being exhausted both mentally and physically.
He said, “I left because I was just tired physically, mentally and I just wanted to reconnect with my family. But I always knew that I wanted to come back and I wanted to retire in the WWE.”
Further, he called WWE his home and he always knew he would return to the company despite his departure.
“My career was definitely going to end in WWE, no matter what. I never really had any desire to go anywhere else. It has always been the WWE. Now I know the WWE has always been my home.”

In the 2018 Royal Rumble, Rey Mysterio made his surprise return to the company at No. 27. He put on a great show with his in-ring skills until being eliminated by Finn Balor.

A few weeks back, Rey Mysterio successfully won a fatal 4-way match to become the No.1 contender for the Intercontinental Champion. Since then, the Luchador brawled with the Imperium.
Recently, WWE tapped its upcoming episode of Friday Night SmackDown ahead of Crown Jewel. As per the fans and reports, Gunther defended his title against Rey Mysterio in an intense match. The match had a good start from the Master of the 619 but eventually failed to win the title.
