WWE News: UFC Champion Calls out Ronda Rousey for a Fight

Julianna Peña is ready for her rematch with Amanda Nunes for the bantamweight belt and also her first title defense since winning it. During her recent talk on Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, she recalled winning The Ultimate Fighter when it was Team Rousey and Team Tate. Precisely, she pointed out her victory to fight Ronda Rousey next.

Peña recalled a conversation back from 2014 where Ronda talked about their future showdown. However, both women didn’t have a showdown.

“Ronda told me, ‘You’re going to give me a tougher fight than Miesha Tate could ever dream about–but when that day comes, I’m still going to kick your ass,’” Peña said. “And I said to her, ‘We’ll see.’ So, of course, I want to fight Ronda. That was a fight I was gunning for before I tore out my knee [in 2014]. When I came back, she lost and ran off and hasn’t come back. But I have a feeling that she wants to come back.”

Eventually, she admitted to Ronda’s success in WWE. She admired how Ronda made her name in professional wrestling and earned tonnes of money. “She’s killing it in the WWE, and she can make a ton more money doing what she does over there instead of doing the real s**. But if she wants to challenge herself and come back to the real stuff, I’ll be here,” said Peña. [H/T Sports Illustrated]

Ronda Rousey has a 12-win and 2-loss record in UFC. She made her retirement from MMA in 2016 after two consecutive losses. Since then fans haven’t seen Ronda in the octagon. However, Ronda made her way to professional wrestling, signing with WWE in 2018. She competed in her first WrestleMania match against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a mixed match challenged alongside Kurt Angle.

Currently, the Baddest Woman on the Planet is in a feud with Charlotte Flair and soon both women will clash at WrestleMania Backlash. Both women have developed a heated rivalry in WWE, which has excited the audience for the rematch for the SmackDown Women’s Title at Backlash.
