WWE News: Roman Reigns recalls leveling up to compete against former WWE Champion
Recently, the Undisputed Universal Champion spoke about his recent match with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam 2022. While his chat with The Ringer, Reigns stated both men are topmost performers in the ring who pushed each other towards progress.
“That was just a perfect recipe of two performers who want to be the best, and both have pretty legitimate claims to that territory. And when you get two guys who compete, it’s not backstabbing. We’re looking each other in the eyes and we’re telling each other, ‘I’m better than you and if you don’t show me, then this is the end of the road for you.’ People probably said, ‘Oh God, not Brock-Roman again.’ And then we go out there and deliver a classic,” he said.

The Tribal Chief and The Beast Incarnate fought multiple times after Lesnar’s babyface return at SummerSlam 2022. Although Lesnar showed his dominance in the ring, Reigns conquered the Beast in all the matches. However, every time both men clashed they delivered an absolute banger to the fans and took their rivalry to the next level.
Further, Reigns detailed the importance of character change when Lesnar comes into the picture. The Beast returned with his cowboy gimmick to confront Roman Reigns.
He said, “To me, if he doesn’t level up and showcase the Cowboy Brock character, then don’t nobody give a s**t about Brock next to the Tribal Chief,” Reigns said. “I was able to push my level up, which he knew, OK, ‘this guy’s creating different levels and layers to this, let me step my game up.’ And he did that.”
At SummerSlam 2022, Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar in a Last Man Standing Match to end his rivalry with his biggest opponent in WWE. Currently, Lesnar is engaged in a storyline with Bobby Lashley but they won’t be facing anytime soon until next year possibly at Royal Rumble.
