Women’s IPL: There has been a lot of talks with the Women’s Indian Premier League being on Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) radar. The BCCI has been working towards the same for some years now. In fact, in a mail to different state associations, President Sourav Ganguly has said that they are looking to start at Women’s IPL next year. Follow Women IPL live updates with InsideSport.IN.
With the Board currently on the working phase of the women’s IPL, the exact dates and other information will be made available on a later date.

“The BCCI is currently working on the much-awaited women’s IPL. We are expecting to start the first season early next year. More details will follow in the due course,” The Times of India quoted Ganguly as writing to state associations.
This comes as a huge boost to women cricketers in India, who have been asking for a separate women’s IPL. Even some of the big international cricketers have done so. And all of it has borne fruit as it seems.
What is important to note here is that the BCCI is talking about a different competition from the one that exists. IN the last few seasons, the BCCI has been hosting women cricket matches with few teams. They have named the competition Women’s T20 Challenge. Some of the international players have also featured in the competition.

But it took place at the fag end of the Men’s IPL. As a result, it somewhat lost its gloss as it is normally being overshadowed by the men’s competition. Besides the BCCI are also planning on having a U-15 girls tournament this season.
“We are glad to introduce a girls u-15 tournament from this season. Women’s cricket has seen phenomenal growth across the world and our national team has been performing well too. This new tournament will create a pathway for our girls to play at international level.
