Wimbledon Semifinals: Karolina Pliskova to face Ash Barty in Wimbledon Final, defeats Sabalenka in 3-sets battle- In the second semifinals of Wimbledon 2021 women’s singles, Karolina Pliskova has defeated second seed Aryna Sabalenka. She came from behind to win the thrilling contest after losing the opening set 7-5. The match was evenly poised during the second and third sets but Pliskova kept her cool to defeat hard-hitter Sabalenka 6-4, 6-4.

“I am in the final so I think it is incredible,” Pliskova said on court as quoted by Reuters. “It was an amazing match from both of us, I got a bit frustrated but she was serving unbelievably – she was in a semi-final so had to play some great tennis. I am super happy I managed to find a way to win.”
“It is difficult when you are not doing well to stay positive, but my team is super positive, thanks to them I managed to stay calm and trust in my game. I have had success in the past so it is not like I forgot how to play tennis,” she added.
The Czech will next meet World No.1 Ash Barty in the Wimbledon final for women’s singles. The latter had defeated Angelique Kerber in straight sets during the 1st Wimbledon semifinal today. The highly-anticipated final will take place on Saturday.
Notably, 8th seed Pliskova was coming on the back of straight-sets wins over Gloubic, Samsonova, Martincova, Vekic, and Zidansek.
