West Indies made one change as Odean Smith replaced Kieron Pollard. Pollard is missing the second ODI due to a niggle, stand-in skipper Pooran confirmed.

Nicholas Pooran won the toss and opted to bowl against India in the second ODI of the three-match series here at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Wednesday.

West Indies (Playing XI): Shai Hope(w), Brandon King, Darren Bravo, Shamarh Brooks, Nicholas Pooran(c), Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Fabian Allen, Odean Smith, Alzarri Joseph, Kemar Roach

After a humiliating defeat at the hands of India in their opening ODI against India, the Caribbean side will face a stiff test in absence of Pollard.

The priorities for the teams are contrastingly different from one another. While India would be aiming to win the series in the next game, West Indies will be eyeing to level the series and play it out on the final game on 11th February.

In the first ODI, batting first West Indies batting lineup experienced a calamity as the top order fell like a pack of cards to the Indian bowling attack. While the pace attack led by Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna kept the Windies under check, it was the spin attack of Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar that wreaked havoc on the Caribbean batting side. Chahal bagged 4 wickets while Sundar making his return to the Indian side scalped 3 wickets.

West Indies Probable Playing XI 2nd ODI: Brandon King, Shai Hope (wk), Darren Bravo, Shamarh Brooks, Hayden Walsh Jr, Kieron Pollard (c), Jason Holder, Fabian Allen, Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hosein, Romario Shepherd

While they did miss the trick with the bat after posting just 176, they misread the pitch’s spin assistance as well. To counter that, West Indies may turn to Hayden Walsh Jr who has done well in T20 formats off late. Furthermore, the inclusion of Romario Shepherd will bolster the bowling department and the batting prowess of Hayden Walsh Jr is likely to encourage the West Indies batting lineup.
