India and Australia will lock horns for the ICC Test Mace starting on June 7 at the iconic Oval ground. The Tets match is scheduled for 5 days, with a win confirming the respective side as champions. The winner of the IND vs AUS Test wins the mace and will take over the mantle from New Zealand, the defending champions.

IND vs AUS: What happens if the WTC Final 2023 ends in a draw?

Unlike T20 or ODIs, there is no tiebreaker to decide the winner. The playing conditions confirm that a draw or a tie will see both teams crowned as joint winners. Should the IND vs AUS Test ended in a draw or a tie, both Pat Cummins and Rohit Sharma will jointly lift the mace. This is despite Australia finishing higher than India in the World Test Championship standings. As per ICC rules, the WTC standings will have no bearing to decide the winner.

There is a reserve day in place should the match be impacted by rain. However, the reserve day will only come into force if a significant amount of overs have been lost due to inclement weather. If a favourable outcome is not obtained after five complete days of play, there will not be any further days of play; instead, the match will be deemed a draw.

The final decision on whether the Reserve Day needs to be used will be announced at the scheduled start of the last hour on the fifth day.
