Smith (29-1, 21 KO), a former super middleweight champion, moved up to 175 pounds in 2021 after suffering a lopsided loss to Canelo Alvarez. Since then, he has defeated Gilberto Castillo and Mathieu Bauderlique.
Smith, 33, will have a substantial height and reach advantage, but in all honesty, he had those advantages against Canelo as well, and he just didn’t exhibit much against a fighter of the highest calibre. He has a chance to overtake WBA champion Dmitry Bivol and move up to the top of the 175 lb rankings.
Beterbiev vs Smith fight will take place on Saturday, August 19th at 10 pm ET/3 am BST. The estimated timing for the main event ring walks to begin is 11:30 pm ET/4.30 am BST. The timings may change as per the duration of the fights.
