Abhishek “ZGOD” Choudhary is one of the finest frontline assaulters in the BGMI esports scene. He plays for Godlike Esports where he showed a great performance in the recently concluded BGMS Finals. ZGOD got candid in an exclusive interview with InsideSport during the Battlegrounds Mobile India Masters Series Grand finals, where he spoke about the team’s strategy, Shadow’s addition, and more. For more such interesting updates about BGMI pros, keep following InsideSport.IN.

GodLike Esports has, yet again, proven its status as one of India’s top esports teams by placing second in the mega series by Nodwin Gaming, BGMI Masters Series 2022. The tournament created a huge hype in India by becoming the first-ever televised esports event. Team Godlike was holding the top position on the leaderboard until the very last match. GodLike Esports showed an amazing performance during the grand finale of the tournament but lost by 4 points to Global Esports to take the runner-up title on July 17, 2022.

Speaking on the tournament, Abhijeet ‘Ghatak’ Andhare, Coach, GodLike Esports, said, “Being so close to the ultimate victory and not getting it was definitely disheartening for us, but we’re proud of ourselves for the hard work, determination and teamwork we showcased throughout the tournament. The BGMI Masters Series 2022 is a major milestone in the Indian esports industry and we’re honored to participate in such tournaments. I would like to thank our management and fans for standing by us through everything.”

InsideSport was in conversation with ZGOD a day before the final DAY 5 of the tournament.

GodLike is currently seated first on the leaderboards, what is the team going to do in the last four matches to maintain that position?

We will be sticking to our plan. We will play our usual aggressive game in the rest of the matches. We will try to secure more position points from these matches.

In multiple matches, GodLike and Soul have had heated exchanges. Is it intentional to get the biggest threat out of the way or simply coincidental?

We don’t do such things intentionally. Both teams have the same rotation strategy. And our drops are also quite close on a few maps. So, our clash happens most of the time during the rotation.

Your 1v3 against SouL on Day 1 was phenomenal. Are more such glimpses coming up in the remaining few matches?

For sure, I will try my best. If there is a fight situation in the upcoming matches against Team Soul or any other team I will try to repeat the same.

GodLike started performing in a different form ever since Shadow stepped up. What changed in the team?

Actually, our last In-game leader was Clutchgod with whom sometimes miscommunication took place during the matches. We have improved our communication and tried to learn from our mistakes. With the addition of Shadow, there were a few changes like rotations, calling, and communication, and the changes showed a good result overall.

Has this tournament helped the esports scene to be seen as a more serious sport in India? Your message for the audience.

About the audience, I want to say that, the Indian audience is becoming very supportive of eSports. There were only a few people who knew about the esports in past. But now a large number of the audience are aware of esports and the athletes. Overall, we know it’s growing. The audience is so supportive and I want to say a line to the parents, please support your kids in gaming and esports.

InsideSport wishes Team Godlike all the best in the upcoming BMSD LAN event, hosted by  Krafton, later this month.
