Defending champion Novak Djokovic and former two-time champion Andy Murray practiced together to strengthen their preparations for Wimbledon 2023. The duo are the only two former champions in the draw and decided to have a hit ahead of Wimbledon’s opening round.
Djokovic is coming to this year’s Wimbledon to extend his Grand Slam tally to 24 and level Roger Federer by winning his eighth Wimbledon title. The 7-time winner has already won the first two slams of the year, the Australian Open and the French Open, and will be gunning for the Grand Slam (winning all four slams in a year) if he wins the grass court slam.

Murray, on the other hand, is coming off two challenger title runs in Surbiton and Nottingham. The Scot has a favorable record over Djokovic at Wimbledon, beating him in 2013 in straight sets to win his first title at the All-England Club.
“What he’s gone on to achieve the latter stages of his career, it’s been incredible. Also doesn’t look like he’s slowing down,” said Murray in the pre-tournament press conference after practicing with Djokovic on Saturday.
The practice session had a fully packed crowd, and the duo was seen exchanging pleasantries before and after their hit together. The two champs are the only two members of the Big 4 to be playing here this year and are among the favourites to go deep into the tournament. While Djokovic is the top favourite, Murray, who is ranked 39, has a difficult draw but, given his experience and past results on grass, is being seen as a dark horse for the tournament.
The duo also played an incredible rally, which saw Djokovic hit his trademark drop shot while the 3-time Grand Slam winner failed to chase the ball down. Murray was seen smiling while looking at Novak while the crowd applauded a great point between the two modern giants of the game.
