WATCH: The Shocking Losses of Amanda Nunes

1. In an astonishing turn of events at UFC 269, Julianna Peña stunned the world by defeating the seemingly invincible Amanda Nunes in the second round to claim the bantamweight championship. Despite facing overwhelming odds as an underdog, Peña’s determination and grit paid off in a major upset that will be remembered for years to come.

Not to forget this was her first loss in 7 years. Nevertheless, Nunes proved to be a fierce competitor by reclaiming her title just seven months later at UFC 277.

2. In 2014, Amanda Nunes faced off against Cat Zingano in her third UFC bout, but unfortunately suffered a difficult defeat in the third round due to Zingano’s superior wrestling and ground and pound skills. Despite her best efforts, Nunes was unable to overcome Zingano’s dominant performance, resulting in a TKO loss. However, this setback did not deter Nunes from continuing to improve her skills and hone her craft in the octagon.

The loss to Zingano may have been a setback, but it ultimately served as a valuable learning experience that helped Nunes grow and become the fierce competitor that she is today.

3. During the early stages of her MMA career, Amanda Nunes fought in the all-female promotion Invicta FC. At Invicta FC 4, she faced off against Sarah D’Alelio in a fiercely competitive bout, but ultimately lost to a unanimous decision. Nunes struggled to handle D’Alelio’s impressive wrestling abilities, which proved to be a challenging obstacle for her to overcome.

4. Loss to Alexis Davis at Strikeforce (2011): In her Strikeforce debut, Nunes faced Alexis Davis and lost via TKO in the second round. Davis dominated the fight with her grappling and Nunes had no answer for her on the ground. This was a humbling loss for Nunes early on.

5. Amanda Nunes’ professional debut fight against Ana Maria at Prime MMA Championship 2 proved to be a challenging and humbling experience. In less than a minute, Nunes was quickly submitted via armbar by her opponent, highlighting her inexperience and raw talent. However, rather than letting the loss discourage her, Nunes used it as a valuable learning opportunity to improve her skills and technique.

While Amanda Nunes did suffer some early defeats, she clearly learned from her losses and made the necessary improvements to become the fighter she is today. Her journey has been an inspiration and demonstrates how failure often precedes success. Nunes’ transformation into a legend proves that losses do not define a fighter.
