Speaking to ANI,  BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla said that Kohli’s contribution in T20Is for India has been immense not just as a batsman, but also as a leader. “His contribution in T20Is has been immense, not just as a batsman, but also as a captain. Since it is his personal decision, we respect it and I am confident we can win the T20 World Cup under his leadership,” he said.

Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle wrote: “Virat’s intensity was insane. I had thought he would give up the captaincy of RCB which would give him two months off as a leader. Hopefully, this can give his mind the rest it needs and who knows, find him another peak as a T20 batsman.”
