The Indian cricketer, who has 620 runs in 15 knockout matches, can leapfrog Master Blaster (657 runs in 14 innings) to secure the 2nd position on the list of the leading run-scorer in ICC tournament knockout stage matches.
Currently, former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting holds the record for most runs in ICC tournament knockout stage matches with 731 runs in 18 innings.
With 28 Test centuries to his name, Kohli has the opportunity to equal the legendary Australian batsman Don Bradman’s career tally if he manages to score another century.
Scoring his 29th Test ton will push Kohli to the second position in the list of most hundreds scored by an Indian against Australia in Tests. Currently, both Kohli and Sunil Gavaskar share the record with eight centuries each, while Sachin Tendulkar tops the chart with 11 centuries.
The star Indian batter, who enjoys a stunning record against Australia, will also have the chance to surpass Rahul Dravid in the list of most runs scored against the Aussies. With 1979 runs from 24 matches, Kohli requires 188 more runs to surpass Dravid’s tally of 2166 runs.
