To note this was Kohli’s 49th IPL fifty and he is now just one away to become the first batter in IPL to stroke 50 fifties in the franchise based league. Apart from that, he also climbed up to the second spot for the most runs in this year’s competition. He has now amassed 321 runs in 8 games with his average being 53.50. He is right behind his opening partner Faf du Plessis. To note, Kohli has stroked five fifties in this year’s IPL so far.
Earlier in the game, RCB won the toss and invited KKR to bat first. The two-time champions started in a perfect manner as Jason Roy went berserk in the field restrictions. The visitors slowed down a touch in the middle overs but they managed to gain the momentum towards the ending part of the first innings.
