Virat’s “Special Gift” for Vamika: In Guwahati, during the opening ODI of the current Sri Lanka tour of India, the former captain of India hit his 45th century, giving him two centuries in a row for the second time in his career. At No. 3, Kohli has scored 38 ODI centuries, including 36 in bilateral series, 30 in Asia, 20 at home, and 9 against Sri Lanka.
Rohit Sharma (83) and Shubman Gill (70) put together a 118-ball, 143-run opening stand before being dismissed by Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanka (1/22), and Kohli didn’t really need much time to get his eye in or assess the situation when he came to bat in the 20th over. The right-handed batter did not disappoint a flat surface at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium as he blasted 113 (87), including 12 fours and a six, before being dismissed in the penultimate over of the Indian innings.
