“I am a person who wakes and feels like okay and see what the day has in store for me. And be part of everything that I am doing through involvement and happiness. That is what I have always been,” Kohli said.
Irrespective of how he performs with the bat, his intensity on field remains unmatched. There has been questions on how the player manages to maintain that kind of an intensity, and Kohli opened upon up on the same. He stated that is all due to the love and passion, which he has for the game.
“People have always asked me, how I have been and how I do this on the field, carrying with such kind of intensity. I tell them I love the game. I love the fact that I can contribute and give everything on the field. For me, lot of people took that as abnormal.”
“A lot of people on the outside watch and ask me how I keep up with it. I just say one thing to them. I want to win at all cost and if that means I am gasping for breath when I walk out of the field so be it. That is the kind of preparation I go through to be able to play like that. That was not happening naturally so I had to push, but I just did not know it.”
BIG Asia Cup for Kohli: This interview comes on the backdrop of Asia Cup. He has been struggling for runs in the last couple of years. The former captain has come under scrutiny for the same. Some of the experts have even questioned him taking a holiday and break when he is out of form.
That criticism does not end there. Even his place in the team has been question. Hence, it makes the Asia Cup all the more important. The player is under immense pressure, no doubt to get back to scoring ways. In fact, it has become imperative for him to score big runs with the T20 World Cup too.
