However, as destiny would have it, former skipper Virat Kohli will still remain the focal point of attraction, for it will be his 100th Test match. The lad from Delhi could make and break a lot of records in the Mohali test:

8000 Test runs – Kohli is only 38 runs away from scoring 8000 runs in Test cricket. Before him, only five players have achieved this magnificent feat – Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar, Virender Sehwag and VVS Laxman.

28/29 Test centuries – Virat Kohli has scored 27 centuries in Test cricket. Another century in this series will take this number to 28, where he will be tied with Hashim Amla and Michael Clarke. If Kohli can somehow score centuries on both innings, he will be tied with Sir Don Bradman with 29 centuries.

71 Test centuries – If Kohli can score a century in this match, he will take his total tally of international centuries to 71, and will be tied with Australian legend Ricky Ponting in the second place on the list of players with the most international centuries.
