Vijay Hazare Trophy: After Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Indian domestic season will move on to Vijay Hazare Trophy starting on 8th December 2021. Vijay Hazare Trophy will take place over 15 days and 38 teams will vie for the prestigious 50-over domestic title. Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 is divided into five Elite Groups and a Plate Group. Each Elite Group will consist of six teams, whereas a Plate Group will have a pool of eight teams. Mumbai will begin their campaign as defending champions. Vijay Hazare Trophy: Mumbai to defend the title – Mumbai are the reigning champions of Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the last season, Mumbai had an unbeaten throughout the tournament. In the group stage, they won all the five matches. In en-route to the final, Mumbai defeated Saurashtra and Karnataka in the quarterfinals and semifinals respectively. In the final, they defeated Uttar Pradesh to clinch their 4th title of Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The star player of the tournament was Mumbai’s talented batsman Prithvi Shaw who emerged as a leading scorer of the season, aggregating 827 runs, including a double century, from 8 matches. The 22-year-old also broke Mayank Agarwal’s record of highest runs in a single edition of 50-over domestic cricket.

Elite Group A: Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha and Vidarbha
Elite Group B: Baroda, Bengal, Puducherry, Karnataka, Mumbai and Tamil Nadu.
Elite Group C: Delhi, Haryana, Hyderabad, Jharkhand, Saurashtra and Uttar Pradesh
Elite Group D: Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Chattisgarh, Kerala, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
Elite Group E: Assam, Goa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Railways and Services.
