The unpredictable top star and former two-time AEW world champion were momentarily backstage, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider (h/t Wrestlingnews. co), even though Punk is anticipated to return to AEW this summer. Watch Video: CM Punk was asked to leave after a Backstage appearance on WWE RAW
PWInsider stated that CM Punk briefly saw WWE Creative chief Paul Levesque AKA Triple H, the first time they would have seen each other since 2014. CM Punk reportedly spent some time backstage tonight before Raw, according to PWInsider. The fact that Punk and WWE haven’t gotten along since he left the organization in 2014 and that Punk is rumored to be joining AEW again in June for the premiere of the Collision show on TNT is surprising. Since 2014, Punk has only appeared on Fox Sports 1’s WWE Backstage, but Fox, not WWE, recruited and compensated him for that appearance.
PWInsider reported that Punk briefly crossed paths with Paul “Triple H” Levesque, their first encounter since 2014. Punk also spoke with numerous WWE stars before being “ultimately” ordered to leave the venue.
According to one source, the assumption is that he was likely asked to leave since he had a contract with AEW. Vince McMahon, who will not be backstage at Raw tonight, ordered him to leave. McMahon continues to be involved with creative even though he is away from backstage since he is making changes remotely.
