Osimhen apologises to Napoli coach Rudi Garcia following altercation
The duo had a heated confrontation on the sidelines during Sunday’s Serie A game against Bologna.
Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has reportedly apologized to Head Coach Rudi Garcia. The duo had a heated confrontation on the sidelines during Sunday’s Serie A game against Bologna. The match ended 0-0, after Osimhen missed a penalty.
Garcia substituted the striker towards the closing stages of the game. Victor Osimhen was visibly displeased with Garcia as he exited the field. He raised two fingers to the Napoli head coach. The striker was seeming to suggest that multiple strikers should be used when the team was still in need of a goal.
The outburst did not sit well with Garcia. A report by Il Mattino also claimed that Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo had a ‘harsh’ talk with Osimhen inside the dressing room after the team’s draw.
However, new reports have emerged suggesting that Victor Osimhen expressed his remorse to Garcia shortly after the match in the dressing room at the Dall’Ara stadium. The matter was discussed during the Monday morning training session between the two as well. Fortunately, the incident did not lead to any further disputes or issues.
Osimhen has also sent a message out to his teammates. He asserted it was his desire to win that prompted him to react at being substituted. According to the report, his teammates have taken the response positively.
The series of actions by Victor Osimhen after creating an uncomfortable situation for himself is something noteworthy.
Jadon Sancho faced a similar situation earlier. Both had a disagreement with the team coach and chose to express their emotions publicly. However, it was the actions after the incidents that made all the difference.
Osimhen promptly apologised for the incident to the coach and the team. He is likely to get away without any sanctions for the incident. On the other hand, Sancho refused to apologise to Ten Hag and is now being banned from all training facilities in Carrington.
