Sprint king Usain Bolt has just announced that he will be playing in Soccer Aid 2018 charity football match for Unicef UK at Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United, on Sunday 10th June.

Usain Bolt made the announcement on Twitter saying: “Excited to announce that I will be playing in @socceraid for @UNICEF_uk 2018 at Old Trafford on Sunday 10th June. Make sure you’re ready @robbiewilliams!”

Bolt’s Soccer Aid World XI will go against popular English singer, songwriter and actor Robbie Williams’ England team.

“This year’s match is going to be bigger and better with more action, more goals, and much more celebration,” Williams says in the video.

Soccer Aid is an initiative of Unicef UK – United Kingdom Committee for UNICEF that brings together celebrities and football legends to raise money for the underprivileged children around the world. Over the last 10 years, the £24 million raised by Soccer Aid has enabled Unicef to help more children than any other humanitarian organisation.

The organization provides life-saving food, vaccines, clean water and protection from violence to millions of children around the world. In Djibouti alone, Soccer Aid’s support has helped protect hundreds of thousands of children from deadly diseases like measles.

The Soccer Aid funding has contributed to 2.71m vaccine doses for 100 countries reaching 40% of world’s children; Getting 13.8m people with clean water, 11.3m with better sanitization; and reviewing over 10,500 schools for upgrading washing facilities with separate toilets for boys and girls.

Bolt, 2 days back, took to Twitter to announce that he has signed for a football team and would reveal the details on 27th February.

The hosts Manchester United have also announced Bolt’s Soccer Aid match on their official Facebook page.
