US Open Qualifiers LIVE: US Open 2022 Draw: The US Open 2022 is just a few days away with competition scheduled from August 29. The draw for the main draw will take place on August 25. All eyes will be on the big names, including Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams and the opponents they could face. However, much before the mian draw, On Monday, the draws for the qualifying tournament was released. The qualifiers will take place between August 23-26. US Open qualifiers draw
The draws for the US Open qualifying tournament was released on Monday. As many as 128 men and 128 women players will be battling it tout in the qualifying round to earn a spot in the main draw of the year-end Grand Slam event. The qualifying matches are all set to begin from 23rd August, Tuesday and will be played till 26th August. After three rounds of qualifying, 16 qualifiers will enter the main draw.
Men’s Qualifiers Draws
France’s Constant Lestienne will be the top seed in the men’s qualifying draws. Lestienne is currently ranked World No.75 but still plays the qualifier as he was ranked above the Top 100 in the world before the entries closed six weeks ago. Lestienne however wo the Cnadian Challenger much recently and has benefitted as the top seed due to the improvement in his rankings.
Lestienne will take on Italy’s Andrea Vavassori in the first round. He is likely to face Germany’s Jan Lennard Struff, who is ranked 23rd in the world in the third round of the if both the players get to that stage.
Colombia’s 94th ranked Daniel Galan is the second seed. He faces Italy’s Luciano Darderi in the first round of the qualifiers. UK’s Ryan Peniston, who reached his maiden Grand Slam main draw at the Wimbledon this year is also in this part of the draw and he is the 24th seed.
Indians in Qualifying Draws
- From India Sumit Nagal , Ramkumar Ramanathan and Yuki Bhambri will play in the qualifiers. Ramkumar Ramanathan will begin his campaign against America’s wildcard entrant Bruno Kuzuhara. The Indian is likely to face sixth seed Roman Safiullin in the second round.
- Sumit Nagal is the only Indian out of the three players who has made it t the main draw of the US Open recently in 2019. Nagal will face 26th seed Vasek Pospisil in the opening round of the qualifiers. Eigh seed Argentinian Facundo Bagnis is the big seed in his part of the draws.
- Yuki Bhambri will face a tough challenge from ninth seeded Radu Albot in the opening round of the qualifiers Albot is ranked 107th in the world and he is the top seed in this part of the draw.
Women’s Singles Qualifying Draws
Ana Bogdan, who is ranked 65th in the world is the top seed in the women’s singles qualifiers. Ana Bogdan has been in great touch recently in the last two weeks as she finsihed as runner-up at the Poland Open, She also won the WTA 125 Series trophy at Romania last week that saw her catapult inside the Top 70 in the World rankings. She however has to play the qualifiers and takes on Germany’s Anna Friedsam in the first round.
China’s hu Lin is the second seed in the qualifiers and she faces Canada’s Carol Zhao in the opening round at the qualifiers. Hungary’s Panna Udvardy, Czech Republic’s Linda Noskova and Switzerlnd’s Viktorija Golubuic are the third, fourth and fifth seeds respectively in the qualifiers.

It is the year’s last Grand Slam, hence all the big players will be keen to end on a high. While, as for the qualifiers, they will be eager to create an impression and try to go deep into the competition.
The competition is expected to be close at Flushing Meadows. It will be interesting to see how the likes of Nadal and Djokovic fare in the US Open. The two have been impressive in the three Grand Slams this season with Nadal winning twice and Djokovic winning once.
But, luck also plays an important. It is at this juncture, where the draw comes into the picture. Top players are only expected to run into big opponents in the latter stages of the competition.

The draw also has a tendency to throw some tricky contests in the competition, which can make things a bit spicier. It is important to note that the top one and two seeds are at the top half and bottom half of the draw.
As far as the US Open qualifiers draw goes, only 16 will make it to the main draw. As a results, 16 different rounds will take place and the draws determine, who will face whom in the qualifying.
