Kolkata Knight riders may have just received an additional boost in the form of Rinku Singh – not as a destructive finisher but as a bowler. The explosive middle-order batter decided to roll his arm in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and reaped rewards for it in the game against Chandigarh on Tuesday. Rinku, who is a right arm off break bowler, has bowled on two occasions previously in international cricket, once in ODI and T20I each. However, he has been a regular with the ball in both first-class and List A cricket, with 15 wickets to his name so far.
Rinku Singh sizzles with ball in Vijay Hazare Trophy
Rinku was a tad bit expensive in the match against Chandigarh as he conceded 41 runs in just 4.4 overs. However, he managed to bag two wickets in his spell, getting rid of AK Kaushik and Jagjit Singh Sandhu. While Rinku’s performance with the ball surely doesn’t put him in contention to be handed the ball by KKR in IPL 2025, it comes as a boost for the side which already boasts of a formidable spin unit.

Rinku Singh is the frontrunner to be KKR’s next captain in IPL 2025. The swashbuckling batter was one of the highest retentions made by the defending champions ahead of the mega auction. Besides, he is currently leading Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He also led the Meerut Mavericks in the UPT20 league earlier this year.
