Ngannou signed a contract with PFL on Tuesday morning, according to promotion authorities, following months of negotiations with a number of organisations. Ngannou, like Jake Paul, will participate in the PFL’s pay-per-view super fight division rather than the already halfway-completed 2023 regular season.

When contract negotiations with the top organisation broke down when the Cameroonian fighter claimed his demands for health insurance and personal sponsorships were denied, the 36-year-old was still the UFC heavyweight champion. Ngannou’s title was taken away from him by UFC President Dana White in January.

Dana White Finally Reacts to Francis Ngannou Signing With PFL MMA- ‘Doesn’t Make Sense.

Francis Ngannou is expected to make his debut in mid-2024. Ngannou (17-3) will also hold the positions of chairman and equity owner in PFL Africa as well as a leadership position on the PFL global advisory board.

Ngannou’s contract will allow him to box, which he demanded while still bound to the UFC. Ngannou intends to make his boxing debut later this year and return to mixed martial arts in the middle of 2024. As part of the agreement, Ngannou will head PFL Africa and sit on the advisory board of the business to represent fighter interests.

Dana White during a press conference says, “It makes no sense to me to pay a guy not to fight for a year. It’s already been like 18 months, it’s about three times in the last three years.” Dana also says, that the day he let Ngannou go, he very well knew what he was getting himself into. He says that Francis wants to take zero risks. Also obviously, he didn’t want a chance against Jon Jones. Dna says that Francis is preparing himself for a match that may not even take place.

This is why the whole situation doesn’t make any sense to Dana.
