Boasting an undefeated 12-0 MMA record, Khamzat Chimaev has secured dominant wins in both- welterweight and the middleweight division. Only Gilbert Burns could give ‘Borz’ a tough fight, or else Khamzat Chimaev made the rest of his opponents look like amateurs.
Chimaev recently connected with ESPN MMA and shed views on the idea of facing Alex Pereira in Brazil. ‘Borz’ said, “I like competitions you know, and go to somebody’s home and take his belt. Actually, I know a lot of guys from Brazil, a lot of brothers from Brazil. So, a lot of guys train with me as well and my coach from Brazil. So the guys is like kind of like, grow up like us. You know, hard time. I understand the guys from Brazil. So they understand e as well. I want to be there one day and fight at Rio De Janerio.”
After beating Kevin Holland at UFC 279, Khamzat Chimeav doesn’t have an official opponent. That said, a potential fight between him and Alex Pereira may not happen immediately. Chimaev wants to return to the welterweight category and test himself against ‘Chaos’ Colby Covington. With that said, Chimaev says he would beat Covington easily. Meanwhile, Alex Pereira will have to defend his middleweight title next, possibly against Israel Adesanya.
UFC News: Khamzat Chimaev vs Alex Pereira can wait as Israel Adesanya wants to regain his UFC title
After suffering this third pro-combat career defeat against Alex Pereira and his first in the UFC 185 lbs division, Israel Adesanya wants to have a showdown against ‘Poatan’ again. ‘Adesanya held the UFC middleweight belt since 2019, with five successful title defenses. Therefore, he deserves an immediate rematch.
Israel Adesanya was dominating the UFC 281 main-event against Alex Pereira until round five arrived. Pereira checked one of Adesanya’s kicks, which seemingly hurt the former UFC middleweight champion. After that, Pereira unloaded hard shots, knocking out Israel Adesanya and claiming the UFC belt. ‘Izzy’ believes he can turn the tables if they re-collide.
