Previously Amanda thought that she would be opting for a trilogy fight with Julianna Pena at UFC 289 next month until Pena had to pull herself out due to an injury. Pea surprised Nunes in their first encounter at UFC 269 in December 2021 with a second-round submission. One of the biggest upsets in MMA history, according to many. But Nunes, who is also the UFC’s women’s featherweight champion, significantly atoned for that defeat at UFC 277 when she demolished Pea to win back the championship.

After the final schedule has been announced, Jon Anik sat down with the two-division champion Amanda Nunes in an interview after her opponent was changed from Juliana Pena trilogy fight to Irene Aldana. The most striking part of the video would be the part where Jon Anik asks Amanda about her future goals that she yet is determined to achieve in her fighting career.

Amanda tells her viewers that she wishes to have a lot of memories with Raegan, her daughter. She says that she really enjoys the sight and moments when her small baby girl encourages her to fight and is gradually understanding what her mother does for a living. Amanda says that at the current moment, it is her family that has been keeping her going, she loves to travel to places to fight with her family.

Amanda says that she loves to fight, and having her daughter and her group accompany her makes the fighting journey feel more homely to her, Amanda loves fighting in the UFC to a level that she cannot picture her retirement as of yet. She says that UFC has given her an identity, a personality by which people outside have come to know her and not being able to continue it further, may feel like she might have to give up on a lot of things in her life.

Amanda says that she specifically cannot mention a particular fight that she wants to perform because she has a lot to offer, but she definitely firmly mentions that even after retirement she would love to keep doing something in this sport and have her involvement throughout.
