MMA Journalist James Lynch recently uploaded a video on his YouTube channel where MMA experts and high-profile UFC fighters made their predictions for the bout. Interestingly, almost everyone picks UFC legend Jones as a favourite to win the fight although they didn’t discount how dangerous Gane is.
Talking about the prediction for the UFC 285 light heavyweight champion, Jamal Hill stated, “I think Jon should be the better favourite just because what we’ve seen from him and we know his abilities about Ciryl is still a nasty bad motherf***er.”

Meanwhile, UFC legend Randy Couture said, “I think it’s a great shot of beating Ciryl Gane. But you know there are some questions both tactical and technical questions moving up and facing a big guy. Adding to the prediction Thiago Moises predicted, “I think Jon Jones will win. I think he is better. If he wrestles he’s gonna win without much problems.” While, Alex Reyes stated, “I think Jon gonna win that fight, you know, with his experience as a well-rounded mixed martial artist. You know what I mean, he’ll get in there and find his way in the fight. I think he has all the tools to beat him.”
UFC Fighters Predictions
All of the fighters, including Alonzo Menifield, Cody Stamann, Ian Heinisch, Josh Parisian, Kyle Nelson, Mike Malott, and Modestas Bukauskas, believe Jones will prevail based on his prior record, in which his sole defeat was a very controversial judgment fight in which he was ultimately disqualified.
Nazim Sadykhov, who selects Gane over Jones, has a distinct perspective on the fight. According to Sadykov, Jones’ most recent match was three years ago, and at that point, he wasn’t competing at his best in his own division. So for him to face Gane, who is active and beating nearly everyone, so for Jones who just leaped to the other category and competing in it for the first time is going to be challenging.
