Volkanovski revealed that he will have a different fight camp to prepare for Islam Makhachev and is optimistic about having his hands raised b the end of UFC 284. He connected with the global media alongside former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker from the UFC 284 Tickets-On-Sale conference and addressed his fight camp.
Alexander Volkanovski said, “Stacked on that little bit of weight, put on that little bit of more muscle for the lightweight division, especially a guy like Islam [Makhachev] you know who is gonna be a very strong grappler. It’s gonna be a different preparation which excites me as well. I don’t want any other fight, but this and the UFC gave it to me. So I am very stoked for that and I can’t wait to, you know, make history here in Perth on February 12.”
Alexander Volkanovski is currently the number-one ranked P4P fighter in the UFC. However, Islam Makhachev can snatch that tag by successfully defending his 155 lbs belt against Volkanovski at UFC 284. Fresh from a title win over Charles Oliveira at UFC 280, Makhachev’s title reign has just begun. It remains to be seen whether he can turn himself into a long-term UFC champion or lose the belt soon.
