However Alexander Volkanovski won this by 3-0 and left no room for doubt. Max showed class in this rivalry and was a masterclass level fighter.
If this fight doesn’t go as the best Trilogy in the history, it is definitely one of the best and definitely one of the most technical rich rivalry in UFC.
Another amazing fact, this fight is that Alex broke his arm in round one and still went on to put on show in the remaining four rounds.

Max’s Humble Message following Defeat: Max following the defeat in the biggest fight of his life was rushed to the hospital and didn’t take part in any post fight interview.
Although prior to that he wrote a really humble message on his social media saying “I’m still up 2-0 on knockdowns for trilogy. Prob gonna need a 4th to settle this, Just playing. Congrats to my brother [Alexander Volkanovski]. Go get that [lightweight] strap. You earned the shot. You’re No. 1 [pound-for-pound] right now.
“To all the fans, do not cry for me, Argentina. This is part of life. We need to rebuild and we will. I love you!”
Alex replied by saying “Absolute legend brother.”
Volkanovski is eyeing a shot at being double champion and on the other hand it is still unclear what Max’s future holds for him.
