Twitter has been under allegations of shadowbanning controversial figureheads since 2018. The company denies the use of any such method but people have found that the visibility of certain people can be significantly lowered by Twitter’s algorithm. Amouranth tags Twitter Support while asking them to un-shadowban her
Amouranth can be considered one of the most popular and controversial content creators on the internet. She has been facing heat from social media platforms due to her NSFW content which tests the Terms of Service of many such platforms. She gained the attention of the masses through her “hot tub streams” on Twitch TV. The platform had banned her out but then revoked the ban on her.

She has not been so lucky on another popular social media app, Instagram. Instagram had suspended her account from their platform due to the mass-reporting done by the trolls (as explained by Amournath herself). Still, there is no indication from their side regarding the unbanning of her account.

This time it is Twitter who seem to have silently shadow-banned her with the use of their algorithm. Popular esports journalist, Tyler Erzberger had tweeted that it took him 10 minutes to find Amouranth on Twitter because of shadow banning. Amouranth quoted his tweet along, tagged the Twitter Support, and asked them to verify her account and un-shadow ban her.

Due to this shadowban, Amouranth’s own posts and her account have become harder to find on a feed and through searching, even for those who follow her on Twitter. This can have a huge impact on Amournath’s engagement with her audience. Twitter has still not provided any statement or clarification on this matter.
