Lakshya Sen lost to Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen in tough 3 setter in the first men’s singles contest against Chinese Taipei. Following his defeat doubles pair Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy also went down in straight sets against Tokyo Olympic winners Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin in straight sets.
In the second men’s singles, Kidambi Srikanth managed to get the first victory of the day as he won against Wang Tzu Wei in straight sets. In the second men’s doubles, Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun fought well against Lu Ching and Yang Po but lost the first set by a small margin of 19-21. The Indian duo led in the second set and managed to take the game into the decider. In the final set, despite a good fight, the Indians slumped to 19-21 defeat. In the final match of the game, HS Prannoy won against Lu Chia Hang 21-18, 17-21, 21-18.

Earlier in the day, India lost to South Korea in the last Group tie of Uber Cup by 5-0. Indian ace PV Sindhu again lost to her nemesis An SeYoung 21-15, 21-14. Sindhu’s defeat was followed by defeat for Indian Doubles pair as well as Aakarshi Kashyap in the Women Singles.
Both Indian Women & Men’s teams have already sealed place in the Quarterfinals of ongoing BWF Thomas and Uber Cup in Bangkok. Now the Indian Men’s team will play last Thomas Cup group match against Chinese Taipei.
