Having arrived from Paris Saint Germain in 2020, Silva has made a smooth transition to the pace of the Premier League. Apart from Silva, Chelsea had also signed  Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana during the transfer window. The Blues continued to add more players to the defense bringing in 21-year-old France center-back Benoît Badiashile from Monaco during the transfer window.

Thiago Silva Contract situation at Chelsea

Despite being 38 years of age,  Silva remains the first-choice center-back for the Blues. The Brazilian is still a great reader of the game and also strong in the air.  Current Chelsea manager Graham Potter has repeatedly praised Silva for his on-field performance.

Giving an update on the contract situation at Chelsea, Silva said, We are talking about it. Probably everything will happen in the next few days. My intention and the club’s intention are the same: to stay together”.

What’s next for Thiago Silva?

With Chelsea all set to offer one year contract, Silva will now turn his attention towards helping Chelsea climb the Premier League table. The Blues are struggling at 9th spot on the points table and 10 points of the top four. Besides the domestic competition, Chelsea will continue it’s journey in the UEFA Champions League. With the struggling form the blues might find it difficult to get past Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16. However Thiago Silva will try and help the team avoid further slipups.
