Thailand Open LIVE: Soon after the Malaysia Masters, the BWF Tour moves to Thailand. The Thailand Open Badminton is all set to kickstart on 30th May 2023, Tuesday. Chinese’s Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen will be the top seed in the Men’s Singles in the tournament. Women’s Singles draw will be led by World No.2 An Se-young. In the Men’s Doubles, India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will be the top seeds. PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth will also be in action in the tournament. Indians in action
Men’s Singles
Orleans Masters title winner Priyanshu Rajawat will begin his campaign in the main draw at Thailand. The unseeded Indian is placed in the first draw. He faces Malaysia’s Ng Tze Yong in the opening round. Rajawat is present in the same quarter that has top seed Chou Tin Chen and if he enters the second he is likely to set up clash against Choy Tien Chen for a spot in the quarterfinal.
Kidambi Srikanth, who bowed out from the quarterfinal at the Malaysia Masters last week is in the second quarter of the draw. Srikanth will begin his campaign by facing Weng Hong Yang. Yang finished as runner-up in the Malaysia Masters and Srikanth will face a tough challenge against the Chinese. If he manages to enter the second round, he is likely to face third seed Shi Yu Qi.
Lakshya Sen and Sai Praneeth are present in the same quarter. Lakshya Sen bowed out from the second round at the Malaysia Masters last week. He will begin his campaign at Thailand by facing Wang Tzu-wei of Chinese Taipei. In the second round, Lakshya might take on fourth seeded Chinese Wang Tzu-wei. Sai Praneeth meanwhile will begin his campaign against Christo Popov.
Mithun Manjunath is present in the final quarter. He takes on second seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the first round. The other seeded player in this quarter is fifth seed Lu Guang Zhu.
Women’s Singles
PV Sindhu will begin her campaign by facing Canada’s Michelle Li in the first round. SIndhu is still searching for her maiden title this season. She enters the tournament after semifinal exit from the Malaysia Masters. There is a possible quarterfinal encounter between Sindhu and Carolina Marin as both the players are present in the same quarter.
Saina Nehwal is set to returnto action since the Orleans Masters earlier this year. Nehwal will begin her campaign by facing a qualifier. China’s He Bing Jiao is the only seeded player in the quarter. Saina might meet the third seed in the second round.
Men’s Doubles
Satwiksairaj Ramkireddy and Chirag Shetty will begin their campaign by facing Denmark’s Rasmus Kjaer and Frederick Sogaard. The top seeded Indians are the favourites for the title. The only other seeded pair in the quarter is Lee Yang and Wang Chi-lin.
Women’s Doubles
Ashwini Bhat and Shikha Gautam are the only Women’s Doubles pair from India in the tournament. They will begin their campaign by facing Third seeded Baek Ha Na and Lee So-hee. Steova Sisters are also another seeded pair in the same quarter.
