PV Sindhu in Semifinals: PV Sindhu boosted her hopes of a second title this year after a stunning win over World No.1 Akane Yamaguchi in the quarter-finals. The Indian ace, seeded fourth for the Thailand Open, showcased her class as she kept her Japanese opponent at bay in a three-set thriller.
Sindhu started well but Yamaguchi was quick to seal the advantage, leading 11-8 heading into the break. However, the two-time Olympic medallist bounced back in style with a series of winners to take the lead and eventually the game.

Sindhu continued her dominance in Game 2, but Yamaguchi proved to be a tough opponent, mounting a late fightback to eventually go level on points. In an intense finish. the World No.1 prevailed 22-20 to force a decider for a place in the semi-finals.
Having conceded Game 2, Sindhu was in no mood for letting her guard down as he was on the hunt for points, in a freakishly dominant final game. Yamaguchi struggled to find answers as the Indian badminton queen raced to seal the match in a rather comfortable manner.
Sindhu will now face China’s Olympic champion Chen Yu Fei in the semifinals.
