“The prize money in tennis are practically the same. Because there was the possibility that women’s tennis would be liked by the world. Women’s tennis is liked by the world, they earn a lot of money.“
Nadal highlighted the similarity in prize money between men’s and women’s tennis, attributing it to the global popularity of women’s tennis. He stressed that female champions attract crowds to stadiums and generate substantial revenue.
Nadal expressed his belief that if women outperform men in terms of generating revenue, they should earn more. He clarified that his aspiration is not to earn more than Serena Williams solely because he is Rafael Nadal, but rather to advocate for gender pay equality based on meritocracy and revenue generation.
