Indian tennis ace Sumit Nagal on Saturday stormed into the final of ATP Challenger Chennai Final. The tennis ace, who reached the second round of Australian Open recently, achieved a straight-set victory over third seed Dalibor Svrcina in the semifinals.
Nagal has picked himself up this season after having a few average seasons in the past few years. Courtesy of the 2nd round finish in Australian Open and reaching the final of ATP Challenger Chennai, Nagal is just a step away from entering the ATP Top 100. Nagal is currently ranked 106th in the world. If Sumit Nagal manages to win the Final, he’ll enter the ATP Top 100 for the first time in his career.
To talk about the match, Nagal dominated right from the start. Nagal saved 5 out of 6 break points in the match while his opponent could save only two out of 5. Nagal broke early on both sets and gave no chance to Svrcina to get back into the match.
With this, he became only the fourth Indian to enter Chennai Open final after Leander Paes (1996 ATP World Series), Somdev Devvarman (2009 ATP Tour 250) & Yuki Bhambri (2018 ATP Challenger).
