Pune Challenger, Day 5 Round-up: Poonacha in singles & Ramanathan-Myneni bow out in doubles

All six Indians (two in singles and four in doubles) were handed defeats. Going forward to the semifinals and finals, no home favorites will be in action.

A day to forget for Indian players at the Pune Challenger. With six home favorites in action at the Challenger 100 event ended in dismay for the players and fans. Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha was handed a tough three-set loss to seventh seed Dane Sweeny, while Sasi Kumar Mukund couldn’t take the court and handed Adam Walton a walkover.

In doubles, top seeds Arjun Kadhe and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan lost in straight sets to third seeds Chung Yun-seong and Dan Added. Meanwhile, Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni were handed a two-set thrashing by Adam Walton and Tristan Schoolkate.

With these losses, no Indian will be in action in the semifinals or finals of the tournament, despite being the top seed in both singles and doubles.
