Dominant Djokovic takes his unbeaten Australian streak to 43 after win over Lehecka

Djokovic last lost a match in Australia in 2018.

At 36 years old, there seems to be nothing that can stop Novak Djokovic. After beating Czech Republic’s Jiri Lehecka in the United Cup, the 10-time Australian Open champion took his unbeaten win streak in Australia to 43.

Novak Djokovic last lost a match in Australia in 2018. That loss to Hyeon Chunga in the Round of 16 brought Djokovic back to life, and the player ended up winning Wimbledon later that year. Since that loss, Djokovic has won four Australian Open titles (2019, 2020, 2021, and 2023).

After taking the first set against Lehecka, it looked like Djokovic would easily get his 43rd consecutive win in Australia. However, the 22-year-old had other things in mind. Taking the second set into the tiebreaker, he outplayed Djokovic to level the match. But the 24-time Grand Slam champ took control of the match in the third set to level the tie 1-1 and keep Serbia’s hope of moving to the quarterfinals alive.
